Abortion

This article reports the views of Congressman Tom Price on abortion and other issues. Price is anti-abortion and advocates against abortion practices as well as funding by the taxpayer subsidies and consequently does not approve of contraceptives support by Obamacare Act (Howard & Tinker, 2017). Abortion is a controversial topic in the contemporary society with the debate surrounding the ethical and moral aspect of the practice. The ethical dilemma involves its perception as wrong as it involves killing and the view as right for health risky situations and financial instability reasons. Abortion dilemma in this event is associated with autonomy and non-maleficence principle. For instance, the antiabortion advocates consider sexual practices without contraceptives act as an agreement between the woman and the child. Since the mother is knowledge of the pregnancy possibility she is expected to give the fetus right to live and not decide on its behalf. On the other hand, autonomy allows the woman to decide on her body and therefore can choose to keep the fetus or not (Faúndes & Miranda, 2017). Non-maleficence principle guides against causing harm. Abortion causes death to the fetus as well as psychological and physiological impacts on the mother. However, safe abortions cause no harm to the mother and they facilitate health, financial and parental planning. This makes non-maleficence a more compelling principle in this particular case.

Non-maleficence offers resolution in that, it advocates for legal and safe abortions that intend to cause no harm to the woman. This will eventually help young sexually experimenting teenagers to pursue their education and professional dreams without the burden of raising kids at a young age (Badruddin., 2016). Informed consent expects the APRN to educate patients of the risks, benefits and alternatives associated with abortion. APRN’s role in consent is to ensure that the abortion client signs the legal documentation agreeing freely that they understand the practice (Ahmed, 2015).
